The Prevent Platform programme aims to develop a comprehensive approach to prevention from 2020 to 2022. It will combine most of the applicant's programme activities and upgrade past work. The programme has five fundamental pillars that include prevention in education, family prevention, community-oriented prevention, environmental preventive strategies, and education and training. It covers various forms of risky behaviour among children and youth, particularly in preventing the use of legal and illegal drugs and non-chemical addictions. The programme will promote and implement existing guidelines and recommendations in the fields of school, family, and community prevention, as well as prevent driving under the influence of alcohol and promote quality standards. It will also provide systematic and sustainable education and training for professionals in the field of prevention. The applicant and partners will focus on building and evaluating a model of a local prevention system in partnership with selected local communities (municipalities), which is also a priority at the European level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the implementation of the program, we are working towards the following objectives: (1) fostering further collaboration between different stakeholders at the national, local, and international levels to plan, advocate for, and share best practices in the field of alcohol and tobacco policy; (2) raising awareness of the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol; (3) promoting more consistent enforcement of legislation on alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis; (4) reducing risky and harmful drinking in beer environments, particularly in nightclubs; (5) preventing children and youth from initiating smoking and using other tobacco and related products; (6) increasing the proportion of children and youth who quit smoking or using other tobacco and related products; (7) decreasing the number of individuals who use illegal drugs and other psychoactive substances, as well as reducing the harmful use of digital technologies; (8) increasing the age of first drug use; and (9) providing safer entertainment options for young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our programme tackles the issues of inadequate and substandard preventive practices in Slovenia, which result in health disparities across various regions and localities, such as unequal access to high-quality prevention. Moreover, the programme aims to address the knowledge and skills gap in the field of evidence-based, contemporary prevention, and the irregular enforcement of legislation on alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
